Why is complexity bad?

I wonder sometimes why people freak out about complexity. The world we live in is extremely complex. For example stop lights. The goal of a stop light is to manage the flow of traffic between two, three or four points. Sometimes, time of day dependent, the lights are synchronized. Sometimes they are not. That is a computer managed a system that is somewhat complex. It seems that we as humans are sometimes scared of that. I guess it depends doesn't it on if the light catches you or not. How do you feel about complexity in your life?

I used to hate change, now I embrace it so not to be left behind, but I still have not bought a smartphone.

Let's put up the timer on that one (you buying a smart phone). I am going to bet it happens in the next 2-3 years!

I don't freak out but try to adjust to the present reality of how things are done. Changes are taking place and that forces other changes to take place. Traffic lights used to be red, yellow and green but now there are more indicators such as priority, pedestrian indications and so on. We have to give ourselves more time to get from point A to point B then we needed before.
