Why do you think pizza is so popular?

Is there a simple and clear answer to this question? Maybe not.
Pizza is a worldwide phenomenon and it's hard to find someone who doesn't like pizza, but why are they so popular? 
Today earlier, I was talking to a friend (Italian) about it, and even he couldn't answer me (despite having good arguments), haha!

Because of it's taste and the toppings and most of all of the mozzarella that makes it looks tempting for your mouth to bite.

I have rarely ate pizza these days because it's expensive for me.
Now a days it's not that popular even though there are multiple little stalls about it.
Not to mention there was a new Mcdonalds branch that opened the other day, now that is trending over here.

Pizza is very easy to eat and you do not need dishes but napkins would be good to eat with it. i believe a lot of people like it so I feel that is why it is popular.
