So Brexit is no further down the line after six big votes last night in the British Parliament .The politicians are still a majority against leaving Europe and the voters voted to Leave Europe. Last night the politicians voted to try not to have a Hard Brexit, meaning they dont want to leave with no deal on March 29th, not the outcome anyone wants. TO just leave with no handshake would be very bad for the U.K. Sadly the opposition Labor Party will just keep voting down the Prime Minsters modified deal so to force a general election as the deadline nears.
The sticking point is the backstop, some legalize written into the deal to 'pretend' there is a solution to the Irish border, having a border that is not physical with uniformed custom officers but can still collect taxes between the U.K and the European Union. The text is deliberately ambiguous and there to allow a deal to happen. Problem is the Pro Brexit politicians believe the text is really there to lock the U.K into never fully leaving the European Union and their trade rules, meaning we can not trade freely with the rest of the world. The reality is the text if there as there is no real way to solves the Irish border problem and the text really about sorting the border another day, a day that will never come, the classic political fudge.
There are more votes in two weeks time. The cliff edge is coming. The governments tactic now is to scare the people and politicians into thinking a NO deal Brexit will be very bad and so take the deal the PM is offering. If the deal is not done by early March panic will begin as people stockpile food and medical supplies, creating the shortages Remain are threatening, a self fullfiling prophecy.

What is the connection of the Ireland-UK border to Brexit?! Sorry, I don't really understand what is going on . . but this Brexit thing is interesting . . . Your politicians are no different to the USA politicians . . . They are all . . . ops, sorry.
. . By the way, one pro-Trump group started a DEXIT quite similar to Brexit . . . These are young black liberals (democrats) who decided to join the Republican party. They are fed up with Pelosi and her fellow democrats for doing nothing for the good of the American people . . 99% of their time is spent pulling down the pants of TRUMP out of the white house!

It is important for two main reasons. One is that it is the only land border between the UK and the EU country. Secondly, the Good Friday Agreement of 1998, which helped to put an end to the Northern Irish Troubles, included a stipulation that the border would remain open between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Anything that could be seen as revoking the Agreement might lead to a renewal of violence.

@thedevilinme We're not talking about a wall, merely customs posts at a limited number of border crossings. In the days of the Troubles it was well known that the border was particularly "leaky", with plenty of places where weapons and people could be smuggled into the North with nobody knowing. A customs border will presumably be no different.

The first referendum would then be ignored, given no credibility to the second one. The Liberal establishment are snowplowing it that way though

@thedevilinme the first one should be seen as null and void - no one voted for the mess we are in now
