Cancelled Seminar/Workshop

I was about to attend a seminar conducted by one of the committees from the local government. The seminar is about solid waste management. The invitation stated that it would start at 7 in the morning and that’s very early for me because I’m used to usual official time which is 8. I arrived at the venue at exactly seven and there are already several participants waiting outside. I asked one participant and she said that no one from the organizing committee has arrived yet. That’s to my surprise because there should be people in charge already there to cater the attendees. I decided to call the number indicated in the invitation letter to inquire but nobody answers. Even the venue never knows that there is such activity to be conducted there today. This is crazy. For how many times that I am attending a seminar or orientation, this is the first time where no sign of activity/notice posted at the venue and the worst is no one you can ask from the organizing committee. This is a big joke and they are wasting our time. It was learnt afterward when someone got the chance to contact the staff of the undersigned councilor that the program was not really from their office but from an inter-agency coordinating with them but can’t give an answer if push thru so we were told to go home. What an alibi? It’s their office sending the invitations and now they are washing their hands on the responsibility. Photo is one of the views outside the suppose venue restaurant.

Such a waste of time. I hope you didn't cancel any appointments just to be there.

@ZedSmart i guess because their office hours starts at 9am, but it sucks that you waited 2 hours for nothing.

@hereandthere They should at least inform someone in the venue if the activity would no be push thru.

We left the venue at 9 when one of the attendees got the chance to contact the staff of the councilor. Yes, some were very annoyed. I tried to call the councilor's office at the Sangunian Panlungsod at 8 three times every 15 minutes but nobody answered.

That is bad. Inter agency or not, there should always be coordination between them

The fact that they are the one sending the invitations, they should at least disseminate or air the cancellation.

Well next time perhaps you have to check who organized that seminar. I would get angry as well if i were in your shoes.

It was from the office of the city councilor who holds the committee.

You are right. They should have a well coordinated plan in order not to waste the time of the invited people just to attend that seminar.
