A housefire that took place in Germantown Maryland on Monday evening was bittersweet for Miriam Rodriguez, her husband and her two children since a fire destroyed their home and their family cat went missing due to the fire damage in their home.
Despite the fact that the home has fire alarms installed, since there was no smoke to activate the alarms, their eight year old German Shepherd named Max barked a lot to wake them up and alert them of the dangerous situation that they were facing.
The four members of the Rodriguez family managed to flee the home in time as well as Max safe and sound.
The missing cat named Lucy is expected to return home soon since she was scared of seeing her owners home burned to the ground due to a metal flue and fireplace where the fire started according to the investigators report.

Losing a home to a fire is bad enough.

@amitkokiladitya It hurts very deeply like people who lost their homes during Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

German Shepherds must have the same instincts of the late Rin Tin Tin.

Glad the dog could save the family. That is a tragic situation especially in this freezing cold time up north. Hope they get some help.

I am sure that the American Red Cross and other charities in Germantown will come to their assistance.
