CNY is just around the corner. To all our Asian friends celebrating CNY, may our year bring good fortune in all aspects, career and love! February 5th is CNY this year. Tradition dictates that there should be the nian gao, "tikoy" we call it in Filipino. Tikoy word origin: Filipino adaptation of the Hokkien Chinese words: ‘ti’ and ‘ke’ which mean sweet and cake. I'm half Chinese, and I like celebrating CNY while eating tikoy! I bought a box of nian gao recently. What we do with this is cut it pizza slice style. The tikoy slices are dipped in a bowl of beaten eggs and then fried in oil. YUM. It is sweet and sticky enough to keep the Kitchen God’s mouth shut. Offering tikoy keeps him from saying anything bad about you. Excited to celebrate CNY! Happy Year of the Pig!

Yeah, we had tikoy here but I'm the only one who hasn't tasted it yet.

Sounds delicious. I like CNY. All our local Chinese restaurants will be serving up some great meals in honor of the day.
