for the most part we came through relatively unscathed from the gas line going down..but i've noticed the cold in the house from the heat being out did damage a few things. for instance,my downstairs bathroom has really old pipes-like 1875 old. i had noticed a tiny bit of water on the floor,but thought it was people being sloppy. nope,it was a leak.sprayed it with flex seal,and it worked.thank god. it will have to be replaced at some point tho.even under the best conditions,they surface corrode when they're that old.the temp in the house had just done the "one last thing" to it. today,i decided to get to painting in the hallway..it had never been done in my lifetime,so it was time. nope.found the cold had froze all my latex paint. godd*mnit.250 bucks out the window. there's talk in town of a class action suit against the utility company..i might throw mom's name in.at the very least,i'd like recouped for the paint.
