What do you think is the main reason behind failure of so many shopping malls?

Nowadays, it is not difficult to find many a malls having deserted look. The business in the shopping malls isn't as throbbing as it used to be some years ago. What do you think is the reason for this? I think the main reason is online shopping - people nowadays prefer more of online shopping rather han shopping in person.

They built too many of them and online shopping.

My mall is almost deserted now. I wish it wasn't. But yeah online shopping and Walmart.

@MGjhaud In third world countries, yes, but many a malls are closing down in first world countries.
