No Deals to Keep Trump out of Prison

I can't take it anymore. every few days, a new story, or op/ed shows up claiming that Trump will resign before allowing himself, or his family, to be indicted. They claim he will resign as the result of some sort of deal.
Who has the authority to make such a deal against the interests of the American people, who are, in fact, the victims of the Trump/GOP treason?
I realize that Gerald Ford pardoned Nixon after he resigned. It probably cost Ford a term as President. Even though Ford had the decency to pardon Canadian draft dodgers, it didn't right the wrongs and damage Nixon did.
I can't think of an injustice any successor to Trump could right, to excuse the lack of prosecution resulting from a bargain with Trump to resign,

@TheHorse I've been worried when Trump's traveled outside the U.S. a few times. I keep half suspecting that he will simply refuse to return and be protected by the Russians.
As it is, I think there ought to be some legal mechanism, to keep him from meeting hostile leaders, monitored.
What will happen in Vietnam next week?

Gerald Ford just seemed like a good man. Good point about his pardon of Nixon possibly costing him a (full) term. If Trump is prosecuted for his crimes, it will probably be after his "presidency" has run its course. Can he still be "pardoned"?

Probably confer him with the Hero of the Russian Federation award.
