Favorite "State" Songs #3 - "European Super State"

Moving on from classic rock songs now, as I count down my favorite songs with "Town," "City," "State," and "Country" in the title. This is the "State" portion of today's discussion, and we are at #3: "European Super State" by Killing Joke.
Simply put, Killing Joke is one of the all-time great alternative rock bands. I'm talking legendary, except that, unless you listen to a lot of alternative music, odds are that you've never heard of them. The highly influential (gloom and doom lyrics backed by intense music consisting of very danceable beats combined with elements of goth, industrial, metal, and even synth pop) group formed in Notting Hill, England, in 1978, and are still at it. Unfortunately, the original lineup of vocalist/keyboardist Jaz Coleman, guitarist Geordie (Kevin Walker,) bassist Youth (Martin Glover,) and drummer Paul Ferguson had made their last album with that roster in 1982.
Fast forward to 2007, when those four guys reacquainted themselves at the funeral of longtime Killing Joke bassist Paul Raven, and decided that it was time to begin working together again. After an EP, the band released their 13th studio album, Absolute Dissent, in 2010.
"European Super State" was the album's single, released prior to the album. And while I don't see any chart action, it's a fantastic Killing Joke tune. The lyrics, as always, reflect the group's rather bleak world view, but it's so danceable that you might not even notice them. Call it industrial synth pop, if you will, but it's bloody fabulous.
I can't even begin to stress just how great this band is. So I'll just leave it at that.
