why people ask advice from a radio show host?

I am listening to the radio right now, and the person asking for advice is a bit annoying. She has been complaining about her husband for the past 30 minutes and when the host is trying to give her advice, she counters it and defends her husband instead. The talk goes on and on until the caller dropped the phone - i think it got cut or something. Have you ever asked for advice from a radio show host?

I haven't. I like to listen to Dr. Laura. She is very sharp and tells it like it is with no sugar coating. Many don't like that.

No i have never done that and will never do. Why should you make your problem public when you can just ask a priest of someone close to you or from an older relative.? I think problems should be kept private to those who can understand you.

maybe she did not know any priest that she is comfortable with or she has asked advice from other but still did not accept the given advice

@lady1993 Or maybe she just would like to get attention that's why she makes it public.

I think this kind of program is still available in the radio here. I had listened to it long time ago. Usually the host wouldn't let the person spoke for such a long time. Try to imagine it can be quite boring to listen to the complaint for half an hour

yeah a bit of an introduction to the problem would be enough

i think people are alone and have no family and friends to trust. that maybe one reason. they ask for advice.

Really stupid and waste of time of this person. I think she just wants to talk to some body and annoys them as well.

lol, shes not seeking advice, shes looking for someone to agree with her to justify her victimhood.

I find it very lame. Like you wanted to know the listeners your problem then find it very overwhelming while some listeners will bully them instead.

yeah it can go both ways.. it can be helpful though, if the caller is open minded about it and some listeners also give good advice

If I wanted advice I'd go to a trusted friend certainly not a talk-show host!
