Along with songs that you may not know were covers, I'm presenting ten songs that most people DO know were covers. This side of the countdown is going to begin and end with the same group, but on opposite ends of the "cover" spectrum. Here's our opening song that most people knew was a cover. #10: (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction - Devo I read an interesting quote from Neil Diamond: he heard UB40's version of "Red Red Wine" and didn't recognize it...and Neil wrote the song! That may be how Mick and Keith felt when Devo took an early Rolling Stones classic and...well, Devo'd it. (Truth be told, according to Picky Wedia, Jagger liked the Devo remake.) This was more or less the world's introduction to the band that is generally labeled "new wave" but really defies description. In addition to Jagger, British musical greats such as Brian Eno and David Bowie, along with fellow American Iggy Pop, were in the band's corner, which enabled them to get a record deal. And what they gave the world was....well, Devo'd. In addition to their own material (including the classic "Whip It"), they covered songs such as "Are You Experienced," "Working in a Coal Mine," and "Secret Agent Man" (which @teamfreak16 used in a "favorite covers" countdown). Just as the Stones' career shook the world with this song when they started, Devo's completely different rendition did the same.
