Jerry Springer

I think most of the people who post here are fairly intelligent. Taking that fact into consideration leads me to believe that most people here won't admit to watching Jerry Springer. But I'm going to come out and post this anyway. I've liked Jerry Springer for many years. I think, however, that I've been too easy on the show, especially since they moved production to Connecticut. The show really has lost any redeeming values. Years ago, the show was mostly about sex, and American, (USA), culture is too hung up about sex to have allowed that to go on forever... so they quit covering sex, and switched to romantic betrayal, and violence to hold onto ratings, and be allowed to remain on the air. Why U.S. culture is more acceptable of violence than sex, I'll never really understand. Now the show is devoted to hosting the lowest common denominator, LCD, of the US populace revealing their lack of judgement and character, with moderated violence in which, as Jerry controls, nobody can really be physically hurt. The damage, and hurt, done by the antics, and behavior of many of the guests cannot be so easily tabulated. Springer tries to redeem the value of his show, by his statement at the end of each show. But, his message is generally ignored by the guests, and rather true or not, fails to meet it's goal and might as well be eliminated from the show in exchange for more phony fights, strippers, and cries from the audience of "we love lesbians". The Jerry Springer Show, in it's first form, was a valuable, and informative show, while still being entertaining. Now, it's just noise that can be mildly entertaining to watch. The only real lesson that can be taken from the show is; First, find a mate, then have the baby, not, have a baby, then find a mate. Perhaps that should be the title of my tirade. Anyway, I've often thought that some pay cable channel, like Cinemax, should host the Springer Show, and bring back the sex, while stopping the fake violence.

I use to watch Jerry Springer. I think he is funny and I love his sarcastic comments. I haven't seen the show in many years though.

I will admit I do watch Jerry Springer occasionally. Sometimes you need some mindless trash tv to just escape. Also, it can get pretty funny sometimes. Some days, depending what the episode is about, I will not watch or be annoyed - but mostly I find it funny and entertaining. I've heard that the show is ending and Jerry will be doing some judge show. I will probably try to catch a few episodes, just to see how it is. I also watch the Steve Wilkos show, for similar reasons. Although I find Steve's show actually a bit more "sophisticated" for lack of a better word, than Jerry.
