Ugh, what a rough night. Oh, well, makes me appreciate the good nights. But I always appreciate good music! Here's another song that was a hit, and most people know it was a cover. #8: You Really Got Me - Van Halen No. Just no. I like Sam Halen. Diamond Dave? To me, he sounds like he listened to Deep Purple's "Highway Star" way, way too much and decided he wanted to be Ian Gillan. No, Mr. Roth, you aren't. But there is Eddie Van Halen, whom we all know stole his guitar styling from our own JJ (just ask JJ ). He was cute back then. And I do mean "back then": "You Really Got Me" was Van Halen's first single. That was 41 years ago. But most people know that this was "You Really Got Me"'s second trip around the block. It was originally a hit for the Kinks, and it was their first hit as well (although their second single). Hands down, I prefer the Kinks' version.
