Am I the only woman not in need of constant validation? I had an Uber driver call me “my Dear” tonight. Now, come on! My NAME was right there on his screen!!! I calmly explained to him that I am not paying men to call me names better suited to the confines of a relationship.
“oh, I didn’t mean anything.”
So men just go around calling women names in a meaningless way? How is one to know whether they’re flirting or not?
Q: Would you call a man My Dear?
A: Well, no.
Q: Why not? If you can call a woman that, you can call a man that.
A: Well.....
Uber and other services need a first name policy. If my nest option to get home late at night is to get in an unknown man’s car, I’d better be assured his mind is in his BUSINESS.
If 100 men call me Dear, sweetie, honey, or whatever, and one of them has less than honourable intentions, by letting them ALL know I’ll have none of that, I’m assured not to get in an unwelcome situation.
Do I need to wear a football uniform and a jock strap to be treated like a human?
