Youths in crisis with Government

Recently we have things going on in our country that sort of does not go well with us young people. First there were some University Courses that the ministry of education scrapped out. That means if you did that course the certificate is not valid anymore. Your 4 years down i the drain. As if that was not enough they now touched on HELB (This is the loan the government gives us while in university to help us pay the fee which one should start paying one year after graduation) So it happened that if you have not been paying the police will start arresting us. Imagine if the course you did was scrapped out, your certificate is invalid and the police are after you? Mind you the reason you are not paying its because you have never landed a job. Some stays even 6-10 years without landing a job. Those who are lucky the salary ain't enough to even cater for your own needs. Unemployment crisis is real. Does the government really think this is the best solution? If you arrest an unemployed youth how will that help in paying the loan? To add salt to injury since you are a loan defaulter you automatically gets a ticket with Credit Reference Bureau which means no bank can agree to give you a loan even when you have a great business idea. Basically the country is eating her own youths

I heard about the problems Kenya is having. Haven't you just had an election for a new President?

That is very heavy handed. How do you know which subject to study if it could all be for naught at the stroke of pen!

I wonder if they are just blind or they just choose to assume this has no impact on the youths.

@Missmwngi I think politicians are so wrapped up in their own bubbles they fail, or don't want to see, the harm they are doing

Is that true? I would definitely not want to find myself in such a situation! Four years lost in life is not a small thing...

I'm glad they don't arrest people for not paying back their loans right away after graduation here. Unemployment is high here too. They're cutting off their foot and still expect to walk.

Whether its immediately or after one year sometimes it makes no difference if the youth cannot even fully and without struggle cater for their own needs leave alone paying the loan
