Sometime back, I was anxious what my 1000th post would be. Mylot had been a decade part of my life, and my thousandth blog must be pertinent to everyone. Little did I know that I would gradually be led to writing about the Blessed Mother of God, for one mylotter did insinuate an attack on Her, belittling Her Role as the Mother of God.
Of all the titles addressed to Mother Mary, I love the beginning of the Canticle to Mary.
"Who is She that cometh forth as the morning rising, fair as the moon, bright as the sun, terrible as an army set in battle array?"
Can you imagine that beauty and power of a gentle Lady? No one else has our God made perfect and sublime as He did with our Lady, conceived without original sin, pure, immaculate, resplendent and all encompassing.
Mary was just a teen when She answered positive to being Handmaid of the Lord.
When our Lord Jesus was crucified, She stood in sorrow, and our Lord bestowed on Her to be the Mother of all the children He has redeemed.
Mary was in the midst of the fearful apostles in a cenacle when the Holy Spirit descended in Tongues of Fire.
Through the centuries, Mary would appear in visions to nondescript people, to nudge them to apostleship. And this apparitions were most vivid in the glorious thirteenth century, after the Dark Ages, when all of a sudden, in all Europe, all forms of arts and endeavor were dedicated to Mary, the Mother of God. From, Literature to Architecture, the Arts, as in painting and sculpture, Music, all were a tribute to the Blessed Mother.
And as if She, as a Mother needed to follow up on Her Children, She appeared, in the latter centuries, in Guadalupe, Lourdes, Fatima, and many others, including to little people whose lives seem not to count at all, like my own Mommy, who, in her impending death, was narrating about a vision of a foot tall Mama Mary in faded yellow brocade, offering my Mommy an open box.
Of all the prayers I was taught to recite in repetition, the Holy Rosary, or the Crown of Roses, was my favorite, for with the mysteries of the Rosary, I view again and again the Life Story of our Saviour through the Eyes of His Blessed Mother.
That is how our Lord made Mother Mary important to Him, and therefore, to us.
