So you have been to the Assyrian Food Festival?There's also a Greek Festival at Saint Nicholas Greek orthodox Church in San Jose and several festivals in Japantown,to name a few.

They are common in Greece,Assyria and other Southern Europe and Mediterranean areas.

Yes,they are also made with grape leaves.You may be more familiar with the grape leaf version.
