Buddha in China

There are more Buddhists and Christians in China than Communists, according to our excellent guide on our China tour. The Chinese government is now relatively liberal in its actions toward these religions, as long as they agree with governmental policies. AND, this is only true if the word 'Communist" is defined as 'a member of the Communist Party', of which there are relatively few. Nowhere near all Chinese citizens are members of the Party.

I always thought that communist is separate from religion and people from any religion can be communist.

This is basically true. To be a true Communist, you have to join the party, attend meetings, etc., which most people do not do.

@JWMILLER So it is a political thought and philosophy and not a religion.
