Midweek dawns here in the land of the horse race with the promise of warmer weather by the weekend. That isn't thawing my hands out now! But I can always warm up with tea and music. Here's the song most people were certain would show up on this list of favorites with "dance" in the title. #7: All She Wants to Do Is Dance - Don Henley Although he's been prolific, playing on all your favorites since the late 60s, the 80s were Danny Kortchmar's time. Not so much because he was more involved in music (Kortchmar got his start on vinyl as part of a trio called "The City," with one of the other members being Carole King), but because of videos. He starred in Linda Ronstadt videos, including as the former magician lover in "What's New," and more or less inventing photobombing in "Lies." Oh, he also became Don Henley's songwriting partner after the Eagles break-up. That puts him front and center here: he wrote this sarcastic little swipe at the dance club scene (think of this as "The Disco Strangler 1984") all by his lonesome, and he's sweating like a something other than a pig (pigs don't sweat) in the video of the song. And Don Henley's voice is, as ever, spot-on with the delivery. PS to John: I warned you there'd be familiar names. But relax, "Bite Your Lip (Get Up and Dance)" by Elton John will NOT be in the countdown.
