The Forbidden City in Beijing, China was the official rulers of China from the end of the Ming Dynasty until 1912, about 500 years.. It sits off Tiananmen Square, the largest gathering place for citizens in the world, according to our tour guide in Beijing. It is quite a large complex with a lake, a palace, and other buildings. One interesting feature was the ramps placed an the pavement at doorways so that at least one person in the royal family living there could ride a bicycle through the doors without having to stop to lift the bike over the bottom of the door frame. Sorry, I do not remember who this person was.

Never visited mainland China . . . . if ever I saved enough, I would love to go to Europe (France, Italy, Spain, and England).

It was an extremely interesting place, and huge. Especially interesting was the boat constructed of rock on a lake, Not floating, just for show, as far as I could see

It really is amazing, a huge forbidden community for the common people. Sort like flying from D.C. to Florida to paly golf, costing about $3,100,000. Some people can and do whatever they want to make themseves happy.
