Why do people insist on telling me it was a plane!?

So I have this telescope which I love so much! Apparently this one can see Saturn's rings which I can not wait to see because that's my favourite planet. Just haven't worked out the coordinates yet.
I haven't looked through it in quite some time now. But I often tell people a story from about 2 years ago about something I saw up in the sky. I welcome all opinions and answers about this. I really do! But when I describe something that doesn't sound ANYTHING like what their answer is, I can't help but cringe!
One night as I was looking up into space and I saw a bright light. ( I couldn't see this with the naked eye ). It was moving slowly so I thought it may have been a satellite. Was too slow for a shooting star. I saw a lot of those too by the way which was incredible!
No THIS light, was moving slowly, stopped, moved again, stopped, and then went in the other direction really fast!
1: A plane does not go that friggen high!
2: Since when do planes stop and then
3: go backwards?
I'm not saying I know the answer because I don't. But I do know what it wasn't. And it wasn't a bloody plane!
Yet people straight out tell me "Oh it was just a plane." Like....exqueeze me! What planes have YOU been on? Because I don't recall a plane doing everything I just explained!

Many astronauts reported seeing similar lights with similar motions as you have described, while they were up in space. NASA kept telling them that it was just dust or space debris, but the astronauts kept questioning how dust or debris could suddenly change direction!
It's hard to jump to conclusions when we don't have all the facts in a situation like this, only a brief glimpse of something at a brief point in time. There could be perfectly good explanations for what you saw. Or, it could be something totally unexplainable. That's one of the things I love about space and our universe, there is so much out there that we have no clue about yet!

@moffittjc I've heard astronauts telling those stories too. Or pilots in planes.
I agree. I have no idea what it was and I do love the mystery and thinking about what it could have been. I love space very much. Love learning about it and looking up into it.

@VivaLaDani13 Have you looked at Saturn's rings through your telescope yet? About 5 years ago I bought my son this huge telescope, and we could clearly see Saturn's rings through it, as well as the features on Jupiter. It was amazing looking at the moon through that telescope, because you could see all the craters so clearly.

@moffittjc I haven't yet but I can't wait too see it for myself. I have no doubt I will feel so happy once I can see! I'm thrilled you and your son could see some amazing things up there!

Honestly I have no idea what it was. It is possible there is life on other planets in other solar systems, although if there is, I find it hard to believe they would come all the way here to look at this planet, unless they intended to invade.

@VivaLaDani13 Hey, don't drag me into this. I don't know who you are (honest Mr. Alien, never spoken to this person in my life!!)
In some ways this is like the God scenario. You can't prove something doesn't exist so there is always a possibility they are out there.

@WorDazza I have a very open mind too. I don't want to say that there isn't anything out there when I haven't any proof. I've no proof of there being anything and I have no proof that there isn't. I love to think about what could be up there though.
For all we know, they already could be watching us. Maybe there is some here on MyLot. If I go missing, you know why!

If people say it is a plane, you should ask them what kind of plane. Chances are they wont be able to identify it.

@Shiva49 It's very interesting that Hawking said that. Makes me wonder if he knows something we don't.

@Shiva49 I've heard that too. What I have always wondered is, is how or why he has said things like that. I wonder what studies or information he had to say that.

@VivaLaDani13 I recall him saying Black holes may lead to other universes.
That is indeed interesting and full of possibilities and that is an understatement! siva

People insist because I remember you still haven't gotten your eyes examined.
What you explained sounds somewhat like firefly. Maybe space has its own firefly thing up there.

@Daljinder I have to get them checked soon though.
But remember! I only struggle with words from a distance and people's faces from a distance. In a way a telescope is kinda like glasses.
And I don't believe Perth has any fireflies. Never seen one in my life.

@Daljinder As far as we know.
Hey! I may have asked you this before...what would you rather explore? The deep sea that has never been looked at before or a part of space that has never been looked at before?
Both questions give me anxiety.

@VivaLaDani13 I haven't either but we do have fireflies. That could also be some light thing. Space is very unexplored. We haven't even skimmed the surface yet.
