Morning Greetings!! So yesterday I met my very old school friend and was having some random conversations. Suddenly, we started to talk about food choices, the moment he got to know I am married to a family who is typically non vegetarian in every aspect. To this, I told him, I was already non vegetarian by choice, and my in laws have no say in it. He started explaining me how bad and unethical it is to have meat, to this I responded that it's just a choice. He kept on persuading me, and after a while I got uncomfortable and left without saying much. Is it actually unethical....???? I always thought it's a matter of choice.

@Aansh13 that is something i really dont like. When someone has a different belief than yours, so be it. The only beliefs we must all agree are true are the beliefs in the bible. Besides, what is her basis that eating pork is unethical?

@Janet357 absolutely right, but the funny part is everyone feels that their belief is absolutely right, because after all it's a belief

It is actually a personal choice. People have their own points favoring it or going against it. Your eating habits actually come from your personal choice and the availability of food around you and then they Geo-social culture passes through generation. I am totally against judging people on basis of what is there on their plates.

@Aansh13 I am a vegetarian by choice. This is because I am not so fond of it. I enjoy eggs and sometimes fish. But when I have no other option I eat chicken. Last one I ate was two years back. My husband and children are too much fond of chicken and I make it twice a week. Though I don't eat it, they are free to enjoy their choice.

It is a personal choice for sure. If you don't like then don't eat it, what is the use of telling the bad part. Moreover, all are aware about the bad part as well as the good part. So? A dog can't eat grass, it does not mean it (dog) can prevent a cow from eating grass and vice versa. Am I right? It depends on the habit of people, what they eat from the beginning etc.

That is a choice, you do not need to eat the meat if forced.

it's hard to stay friends with someone like that. if his aim was to convert more people, that kind of approach is not convincing and can actually repel people.

No eating meat is not unethical. Its just a choice. Two types of people are living in this world. Some are vegetarian and some are non vegetarian. I am a non vegetarian. No be relax.

I think it is unethical if he is going to insist and not to respect your food preference.
