After a rough night (GERD attack) I'm propping my eyes open long enough to give you another set of eyes, these dealing with songs with "eye" in the title that were never hits. Disclaimer: I was not asked, told, begged, cajoled, threatened, bribed, or otherwise influenced to include this song by any myLot member. #6: You Can Close Your Eyes - Linda Ronstadt NOW will you stop calling me, John? No, I didn't need any prodding to include this gem. Heart Like a Wheel is still my favorite Linda Ronstadt album, and this is a stunning reading of a James Taylor song. Taylor's version is good, but let's face it: Linda Ronstadt, he ain't. That's okay. Ronstadt didn't write songs, she just knew how to pick 'em and interpret them. And man, did she hit the nail on the head with this beautiful lullaby love song. You Can Close Your Eyes Written by James Taylor Recorded by Linda Ronstadt From Heart Like a Wheel, 1974 I can't sing the blues anymore:

This girl singer sounds familiar. I agree that it's her best album. It's practically a greatest hits album. Willin' and Faithless Love and You're No Good all on one album plus a dash of Hank Williams, Phil Everly and Paul Anka.

Did Linda Ronstadt die? When I read the title of your post, I thought about one of my favorite songs, Don't Close your Eyes by Keith Whitley.

No. She has Parkinson’s so she can’t sing anymore. I saw an interview with her last month, and it’s quite obvious that even her speaking voice has been affected.

At the ER they usually give me a “GI cocktail,” which is an awful tasting mix of lidocaine and Maalox. So, instead of going to the ER, I put a lidocaine patch on and took some Maalox.
