What's in a Name Anyway?

I don't really maintain a steadfast and constant review of everything that's happening in American politics. But there are some folks whose names pop up so often you can't help but notice them. Like U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Whether you like her or not, the young lady managed to get herself elected. She's the youngest person in Congress. 29 years old. That by itself is a notch on her belt. One thing I notice about her or I should say that's being reported about her is that … it seems to be easy to upset her! The reports may not be an accurate picture. But if the reports are true, then this lady needs somebody to give her a little bit of advice. SAVE YOUR STRENGTH FOR THE REAL BATTLES!! Being a politician in our nation's capital is not for the faint of heart. If your feathers get easily ruffled, you're not going to last for very long! So they're mocking your name? So what! John McCain is dead and somebody is still beating up on him! Listen up! You got elected. Focus. Use your energy to do your best to serve the people. Your name is your name and it's not going to change unless you change it! For crying out loud! We had a president named Barack Obama! I've heard people confuse his last name (intentional and unintentional) and call him Osama! Take it from me. I worked in D.C. and I wasn't even in politics. That place is a pressure cooker! DON'T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF!! Conserve your energy. If you have plans to remain in Washington, D.C. you will need your strength. **
What’s in a name? Everything for Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. The New York Democrat blasted Fox News host Laura Ingraham and her guest for mocking how she pronounced her name and saying she does so because it’s a “Latina thing.

She is wonderful! She is not "easily upset"--what she does is clap back, very intelligently, when she is attacked, and moves on. She works hard actually doing her job, and it is very threatening to the reactionary types, who constantly try to belittle her. Please don't believe people who are trying to make her seem "too emotional", because that is sexism in disguise (also racism, to an extent--the stereotype of the "fiery Latina"). They are trying to make us believe that women are "too emotional" to do the job.

She has the spotlight and the microphone. She needs to keep her head and persuade people to listen.
