It’s Friday I’m In Love

Many moons ago when I was a young adult working in New York City Friday was the day to go crazy, go dancing, or even fall in love. My first job was in an office building on prestigious Park Avenue. This was an insurance company dealing with marine insurance. That meant policies on ships, cargo ships, cargo, and all types of sailing craft. In that company, a group of us all young adults came together in mass confusion. Where had all the carefree university years gone? We were a happy group and became solidified and friendly colleagues. None of us has any clue how to be serious working folk and often played practical jokes in the office. The one thing we all agreed on was the Fridays were to be celebrated. Every Friday we would all march down a couple of blocks to a pub that offered two hours of Happy Hour and great free pub food like baked ham. Then we would all part company to enjoy our weekends. I can tell you it was always rainy days and Monday that got us down and even worse if on a Monday it really did rain. Now my Fridays are just regular days but I can still remember the good times and I can enjoy myself on my little front porch relaxing as you can see in the photo. I have a table out there and two comfortable outside mats and can sit upon a chair enjoying the quiet as evening comes with my palms in the background. This all came back to mind when I heard once again this delightful song “It’s Friday I’m In Love” by The Cure. The Cure is a British rock band who won an award for Best Music Video at the 1982 MTV Video Music Awards as the choice of European Viewers. How do you spend your Friday evenings?
