Well, this is old news but it's still news I'll pass along.
In 2015 a school was getting an upgrade of white boards (Dry erase) and came across these chalk drawings from 1917. It's unclear how they uncovered the chalkboards. Were new chalkboards affixed over old ones? The article doesn't clarify.
It's interesting to think that the teachers and students would be drawing on these boards never to know that their work would be immortalized. It's interesting to see the methods they used to teach arithmetic.
Reading other articles, it appears as if these were found behind a classroom wall.
Behind the walls at Emerson High School in Oklahoma City, construction workers found old chalkboards with drawings and class lessons, written almost a century ago and in remarkable condition.

That is cute. Pretty interesting. There is a place near here called Graffiti house that has writings from both Union and Rebel troops. They wrote on the walls. I used to make my mother mad when I kiddingly asked her if they wrote on slateboards in school?

That actually sounds kind of interesting. I love history, especially when it feels so close to home.

I agree! One of the teachers thought that it was left the way it was on purpose. As if those teachers from so long ago wanted to say "Hey, look here! This is how we used to teach!"

I always love the old chalkboards and if I had to use one I would love the good, old black chalkboard. This was interesting thanks for sharing.

I am not sure why innovation has made it where dry erase boards are more the thing.. I always preferred the chalkboard myself.

These kinds of stories in one word are amazing to learn how school work was back in another era.

I agree. It's intriguing what school curriculum felt was important
