South Odgen Junior High School eighth grade English teacher Kimberlee Irvine has this special way for her students who are afraid to read in front of other students due to being laughed at for making errors in their reading skills.
Bentley who is a Golden Doodle that is owned by the school librarian Paul Woodin is the type of dog that will not laugh at any student who makes errors reading to him.
Times sure have changed for students had trouble developing their reading skills out of fear of being laughed at by their fellow students in the classroom.
Thanks to Bentley, the reading skills of the students at Ogden Junior High School have improved dramatically.

Interesting! So many people need a friendly hand, or for any matter, a friendly paw to do something.

Having a service dog to play the role of listener to a reader is something new that is working for the school systems which is a wonderful thing for the students to develop reading skills.

I live in Greenwood, IN, our county shelter has a program for kids to read to the animals. It is for the same reason they let the kids read to Bentley. I think helps the kids gain confidence in their reading.

That is a good idea for student to improve their reading skills and gain confidence reading to dogs since they will not laugh at a student who has a tough time reading in front of the other students.
