Yesterday my brother shared me some of the Fish he bought. He got some shibunkin and kois. I accepted it but now I'm worried because my aquarium is only 10 gallons and there are 16 of them already. Honestly, I don't want a new aquarium because two is barely enough for me.
I think next time I would refuse his new fish. Seriously, he's spending so much time on the new ones when he already have so many.
Do you think I should be grateful that I got new fish? Looking at my aquarium, those fish doesn't seem to agree.

One of the best thing you can do if it's overcrowded is to do a water change, at least 1/3 of the water and at least once a week. It would prevent dangerous nitrate build up in your tank that is toxic to fishes, use water that had been left to stand and not straight from the tap since it contains chlorine.

there is a computer shop here that also sells fish and accessories.
when i went there, he was orienting a customer who bought fish so i watched and listened while waiting.
that's when i noticed the bottles of water on the floor of his shop.

@Letranknight2015 he said he'd rather lose a sale if he can tell that the customer isn't that committed to the work involved in caring for fish.

Hello @louievill in this I don't know maybe this is 15 or something. With water change i do it 40% to 80% per week.
It's nice of him to orient his customer when ever they buy fish from him @hereandthere

Hello @crossbones27 That's because I got a little big for this new one. They get bullied, and then stressed and then get sick.

I think you should aerate it more often and have a strong filter so that the water would not become polluted because I feel that the number of fish is a bit crowded already and you need a bigger space because koi do grow a little bit larger when they are in a bigger space to swim. I love fish as well and it was my childhood hobby back then.

@Letranknight2015 Koi's are best grown and reared in a pond. They can grow better and live a much better than in an aquarium setting. Maybe you can set that up in your house having a pond around so they can grow their normal size. Else they will be stunted for life.

Hello @rsa101 I'm thinking of making new set of filter so it can have a clearer water. Not sure if they grow in the aquarium though. It will definitely get over crowded once they grow bigger than their usual size. Not to mention, if they are cared better they can even outlived you.

You should have only that many that can be easily handled and accommodated. Overcrowding will be bad for them.

It reminds me of groups.where some are on one side and others on another side and then some by themselves.
