Take off your glasses, it's time to end this series of ten favorite songs that you've never heard of that have "eye" in the title. For the patient folks I'll have a favorite hit with "eyes" in the title coming up soon that you'll hopefully know. Meanwhile, to close out the non-hit side, here's today's big eyes. #1: Renaissance Eyes - Don Dixon With a title like that you're thinking it's either a ballad or death metal. And, if you know my tastes, you're pretty sure it's not the latter. Don Dixon was one of the producers in the 80s college rock scene. His credits include R.E.M., Marshall Crenshaw, R.E.M., the dBs, and did I mention R.E.M.? He also made some albums of his own. His biggest "hit," such as it was, was "Praying Mantis" from this album. But this song. Wowza. I didn't get past this song on the album for quite some time when I first got it. What a stunning ballad. Thanks for reading. Renaissance Eyes Written by Don Dixon Recorded by Don Dixon From Most of the Girls Like to Dance But Only Some of the Boys Do, 1985 Love me with those eyes:
