A New Worst Movie Trailer Ever Dora And The Lost City Of Gold

Dora The Explorer is a popular children’s cartoon, about a young girl of seven who travels the world with a pet monkey and a talking back pack, learning stuff with chirpy irritating songs. Kids love it, as they are encouraged to solve riddles and warn Dora when Swiper, a kleptomaniac fox is stealing things, so she can get them back to their owners. but parents often find the repetitive formula annoying.
The TV cartoons are at least only five minutes long and aim towards being educational.
Alas, someone (James Bobin) has decided to turn the idea into a 90 minute live action movie. Even before knowing more than that I figured it wasn’t going to work, and the trailer more than proves this by changing the premise into an action movie.
Dora is no longer 7 but about 17-18, though wearing a rather sexualized variation on her kiddie jungle clothes. She shoots guns and spits in people’s faces when threatened.
This is basically a Lara Croft movie made on the cheap. The CGI, especially on the monkey is God-awful and the stunt work looks extremely stupid. Dora tries to jump a chasm in a cave and falls in down an obviously deep hole, landing in a heap but somehow receives no injury at all. This is simply ridiculous. Children and adults alike are likely to be decidedly underwhelmed.

I guess kid characters as they become adults have a sassy attitude. I have heard of Dora who is very popular in Latin American nations even though she is lampooned on social media site as the poster child of illegal immigration.

Even though I don't have kids, I used to watch Dora. I heard about this movie a few days ago. Yes, the monkey does look weird.

I don't have children; and I am not a fan of animated films. This cartoon sounds like it definitely wouldn't made me a convert! Thank you for the review.

@LindaOHio actually a live action film based on a cartoon - neither version are good for grown ups but kids do love the animations - unlikely they will like the film

I love cartoons and cartoon movies still but I would not enjoy this one. Perhaps there will be kids who might enjoy it.
