Patricia Murray who was a former homeless drug and alcohol addict is a person that overcame the odds thanks to learning how to use her skills of assisting other people after she spent time at Hannah House where she learned skills to assist women in trouble from abusive relationships, drug addictions and a crisis center. Thanks to a Catholic nun named Sister Carol who advised Patricia that God had a plan for Patricia to find fulfillment in life, she went to work at Carroll Manor where she takes care of 250 senior citizens. Patricia who has worked at the manor for 22 years and 21 years of avoiding her former life on the streets recently won the Caretaker Of The Year Award from the Ceca Foundation. Patricia is living proof that assisting other people in need beats taking illegal drugs and living on the streets in Washington D C.

@amitkokiladitya As long as Patricia is loved by the people she takes care of, she is happy.

Patricia said she found her calling to be a caretaker since the seniors in the center just love her to serve them their needs. It made Patricia's day and life better.

@Deepizzaguy That's the key. Compassion kicks in when a person loves his or her work.

That is one way to beat living on the streets in a dark and cruel world.
