Church of the Annunciation, Israel

This church in Nazareth commigrates the spot where Mary. the mother of Jesus was told that she would have the child and call him Jesus, meaning 'savior', I have been told. It is interesting that in Ufizzi Gallery in Florence, Italy both Leonardo and Michangelo have paintings of the annunciation, quite wonderful paintings to me, but surely not realistic depictions of a young woman in Israel about two centuries ago. I took this picture

It's a beautiful picture. I didn't know they built a church on the site of Mary's Annunciation.
