Hi MyLot,
As a teen in the 1990s - I remember the excitement of text smileys. You know-
:-) happy
:-( sad
:-/ meh
;-) wink
:-D laugh
and there were countless others. These were the main ones I stuck to though. And boy did I ever feel smart as I would riddle my emails with these new emoticons.
And, even when other emoticons are available, I find I still default to :-) text. Though if that is preference, or laziness I don't know. lol.
Also worth noting was the ASCII art, which consists of using keyboard characters to create drawings. The link included below is a gallery of ASCII portraits - even with such a limited medium I think it is fascinating to see different artist's styles come through.

Ah nostalgia is fun. I admit, maybe I'm lazy but I still usually do the old text ones here lol :-)

Amazing huh? I wonder if they actually typed all that out, or there's a program....
I'm still addicted to the text ones :-) or maybe I'm just lazy, too that could be lol

@FayeHazel There could be a program, but people who do that, I'm sure enjoy making those pictures and don't use a program.

Ah, it seems just about any time I am typing I sneak 'em in. :-) I must remind myself when I'm doing more professional writing to not do it.
