Trying new art techniques with Washi Tape

United States
April 1, 2019 9:57am CST
Hello, myLot, hope everyone is enjoying their day! I...don't usually share my art on here but I wanted to show a new technique I've learned using washi tape. Some of you may make scrapbooks or crafts, so perhaps you know what washi tape is. For those who don't, it's a Japanese tape covered in patterns. It's not super sticky so it can be easily removed if necessary. I've seen people make art with their washi tape, cutting out the shapes they need with an X-Acto knife...so I decided to give it a shot! I need a lot of practice, but it definitely makes for an interesting look. I also want to start painting again, it's been too long. Maybe I'll try detailed finger paintings? Do you have an experience with this? Have you tried any new art/craft techniques lately? Any good projects going on? I'm always interested in learning new ways to be creative! And hopefully you'll share pictures, maybe we can inspire each other and others on here :) Here's the link, scroll down, there's three pictures Have a good day, myLot!

I love washi tape. I have quite a few right now and it would so easy to start collecting them instead of using them.

So cool! I scrapbook and have used wash tape before, but didn't realize so much more can be done with it. Otherwise, I haven't done a thing in ages.

I am not artsy at all, but do appreciate some good art. Some of my kids are a little artsy.

that's ok, as long as someone's being creative! I hope you support their creativity :)

@isweartokira I might start hiding them in the future, but right now, I'm keeping what I paint, unless for a special occasion, like my grandson's birthday.

'All' I do is write, write, write and write! Can't sing, dance, draw a straight line while writing is very easy for me!
