I've been binge re-watching Six Feet Under. It was on HBO in the US from June 3, 2001 to August 21, 2005.
If you missed it then, you might want to think about watching it now. It is a made for cable show, so don't watch it if your are offended by swearing or sexual content, including gay sex.
All that aside, I just love the characters. Claire's my favorites, but I love all the Fischer family members Peter Krause as Nate, David (Michael C. Hall of Dexter fame), and Ruth. Also Love Freddy Rodriguez as Rico.
The show takes place at a mortuary, where the family lives upstairs in the house, and funerals are held downstairs, with the bodies being prepared in the basement.
On one level, the show is a conventional family drama. At the same time, it is distinguished by its focus on the inescapable reality of death. Each episode begins with the death of a person who will be coming to "Fischer and Sons" for burial.
The show makes liberal and effective use of dark humor. In the early seasons a recurring plot device is a character having imaginary conversations with the dead person. This was less used in the later seasons, but the father, Nathaniel Fischer, who died in the first episode, continues to visit his family.
I am watching the first season, completely uncut, on Prime Video.
Life, death and everything in between. From the creator of True Blood, all 5 seasons of Alan Ball's Six Feet Under are available to watch with HBO NOW:

My current go-to shows are Blue Bloods (which I'm watching with my husband), NCIS and When Calls the Heart. I don't need to start anything else at the moment.
