Absolutely. I have asked for a manager on numerous occasions to praise the server or the food, or both.

@DocAndersen — thank you.
I would like to think it’s the correct thing to do.

@FourWalls I agree. One of our twins is a server at a local restaurant. They often come home after a 6-hour shift serving 10 tables with 10 dollars in tips.

I definitely let people know when I've had great service. Too often they only hear the negative reviews!
In fact, the day after my knee surgery, I caledl the surgery center and asked to speak to the anesthesiologist. I wanted to tell him what a great job he did. I not only felt great after the surgery, I wasn't all groggy and tired and loopy. I've never had such a great rebound from anesthesiology before. I wanted to make sure he knew what a good job he did.

@DocAndersen Every surgery I've ever had, I felt groggy, tired, fatigued, worn out and more for days after. This was the first time I felt great after a surgery. No fatigue, no sleepiness. I was very energized the next morning when I woke up. I felt it was important to let the anesthesiologist know what a great job he did!

If it's a restaurant I figure they know I'm happy by the tip. But there are some workers at the grocery stores where I shop, I am sure they know I appreciate them. I make it a point to greet them pleasantly. I know they're used to seeing my face. I just want them to know I recognize their face and appreciate them always being courteous to me.

usually a tip and a nice note. Or I'll tell them directly how great they were and thank them again.
