Do you do things like self check out and dealing with things like drivers licence, tax etc online. I don't. I wont use a self check out as I feel if everything goes automatic we are taking humans out of the process and depriving people of communication and jobs. I do my taxes etc by post. They are constantly pushing me to do it online but I wont. If I do that and everyone else does jobs are lost. I wouldn't mind if the savings made by us doing our own admin work were passed on to the people but they are not. It just makes the rich richer. Im not anti technology in any way but I draw the line at doing the work that should be done by humans for no pay. We are heading for an automated society where people don't interact any more and I think that's a bad thing.

If I'm buying just one thing....to avoid a line up I might consider a self check out. That said. I am at Walmart and trying to purchase one spool of thread.....event 1.... All cashier line ups have at least 5 people in line ....I want to pay cash (it's a $3 item) but I need to use debit or credit at the self checkout,
Event 2.....the automatic checkout does not accept that I have scanned and put my embroidery thread into the bag....so without scanning the second one, I put it in the bag.....the third finally causes the scale to rcongnizthat the item is in the bag. (Dishonest yes, but by now I'm really annoyed.
Event 3. I don't want to pay for bags. I can't put my bag in the logical place (foreign object on scale)....bagging suddenly turns into a major chore.
I could go on..... Invariably I need to have a cashier come and help me.....I give up...ill wait in the long line....or shop elsewhere.
