In Peerless Inn Durgapur the lunch is awesome.

Peerless Inn in Durgapur has a fantastic goodwill in Eastern India. Travellers love the resort. The lunch provided in the Resort is awesome. It consists of mahabhoj meaning a bengali thali having types of fishes like ilish, rui and bhetki, rice, dal, alu posto, papad, chutney and payesh. The quantity of food is high so I ordered 2 plates and 5 of us including me, my mother, wife, elder son and small son shared it. The taste of the food was awesome.

I love Bengali food. Especially luchi and aloo, aloo posto, baingan bhaja, potor bhaja. This mahabhoj thali looks delicious.

Thanks Arunimaji, yes the baigan bhaja or brinjal fry is there in the thali. It got covered. The hilsa fish is cooked with mustard paste called sarse bata.

@arunima25 Thanks Arunimaji, yes the interesting thing is that each item is cooked with ideal vegetable or combination, for example bhetki fish curry is cooked with bori, similarly rui fish curry is cooked with cauliflower.

I am from Kolkata. Never visit peerless inn. The thali seems delicious. But I like to taste the other items except bengali food as we have it daily. So at restaurant I tried other items excluding Bengali dish. But all the items you have mentioned are my favourites.

Thanks Debjaniji, I had spend time in at least 15 countries in life. I loved Chipotli which I had in USA, I loved panta bhaat with prawns which I had in Bangkok, Thailand, I loved jack potato with chicken filings which I had in London. The list goes on. I always ask the hotel authorities which is their best item? It has been seen that the place that the hotel is situated the native food is cooked the best. When I went to Kerala, in house boat in Alleppey I took the brilliant sambar dal with rice and Keralian spicy vegetables. Here in Durgapur they were best in authentic bengali food, so I ordered that.
