My younger son’s school has a break during the study time for students to eat their fruits. His classes started on 4th of this month and due to the heat I send fruits for him along with Tiffin before getting instructions from teacher. Yesterday teacher informed them those who will not bring fruits may get punishment. Yesterday one of his friend shared fruits with him.
In this hot climate children need something to make them cool. The problem is, soon all the fruits will disappear from market and I don’t know what will do at that time.
Let me see.
Which fruits are available in your place on summer season?

My younger daughter goes to a Waldorf school. Every Waldorf school has a fruit break after first main lesson hour. We have to send whole fruits without cutting. If it is something like papaya and watermelon you have to cut half of fruit and send without peeling and making pieces. Each one has a turn to collect fruits, wash them, cut them and distribute it to whole class and teacher. Sharing fruits has developed her taste for many fruits like sugarcane and jackfruit which she did not enjoy earlier.

It's good rule that they should eat fruit, but not so sure about the punishment ...
We can usually get all kinds of fruit all year round, but they're imported. Local fruit won't come til June, when the strawberries are ripe. Then in July/August there should be apples, plums, pears, cherries and lot of berries. You can get the berries in the market, but I'd usually pick blueberries and raspberries, maybe lingonberries, myself

I think this is a good practice for the kids. But wouldnt it be better if parents contribute and the teachers or some assigned staff buy fruits for the day for the kids.
