racism

I absolutely hate racism and bigotry. I hate that people feel the need to hate people for their religion, race, gender, or who they choose to have romantic relationships with. When I look at people I see people. I don't like everyone and I only form those judgments based on their personality. Of course, it's gotten to the point in the world now where if you don't like someone and they happen to be a different color than you, you're racist. Everyone is super sensitive to everything. It's to the point where people are over sensitive. Not everything is an attack on anyone else. I am not a feminist. I see the double standards in society and it's not all just women with double standards there are double standards for men too. It's ok for a girl to be a tom-boy but not ok for a boy to play with dolls. It's ok for girls to join boys sports teams but not ok for boys to join girls sports teams. This weekend in my hometown which isn't very big and is a college town two jerks attacked two people because they were a different color. They were in a local restaurant and these white men started yelling racial slurs and it eventually escalated to physical violence. I personally, think the workers should have called the police before it had a chance to escalate but I guess it's easier to say when I wasn't there. The two people attacked weren't doing anything to provoke the attack. Now, none of them were actually from here. Not the two attacked nor the two who attacked them. One of the two attacked was considering going to college here but has decided not to because of this incident. Again, I'd like to point out the two that attacked them aren't from here. It had absolutely nothing to do with the college here. The person said they wanted to go to a college with a more friendly environment but this one isn't unfriendly. They're blaming an entire town for an isolated incident. We have a super low crime rate and even have a not in our town rally every so often. This incident, while it happened in our city, did not happen by our residents nor any of the college kids. The next thing I'd like to point out racism doesn't stop here no matter where they go they'll have to tolerate similar situations and that is terrible but it's the sad truth. If I had my way the two jerks who did this would be looking at lengthy prison sentences. It was a second offense for one of them. These kinds of people anger me to no end. I can't stand a person who hates someone who has never done anything to them or anyone else. We throw people in prison who kill their child's murderer or molester but we let jerks like this go free when they'll more than likely attack someone again. I don't understand how the justice system works. I am just so tired of politics and bigots. I'm tired of people judging someone based on anything but how they treat others. I don't care who you vote for I don't care what color you are, what gender you are, who you sleep with. All I care about is that you are a person who treats others with kindness and respect. If you do that I'll like you. I am not perfect and I'm super flawed and I know there are a lot of people who don't like me for one reason or another and maybe some of those reasons are legitimate and maybe some aren't but I think it's fair to say that if I made them hate me it's probably for something I said or did in the heat of the moment that doesn't define me as a person but does define the moment. We all have off days and I think that's important to take into consideration with people. Don't judge everyone based purely off one moment. I guess at the end of the day we aren't going to like everyone and that's ok and we need to be ok with that but if we don't like someone it should never be for a bigoted reason.

I'm sorry you've had to experience this. It's not something anyone should have to go through but unfortunately, people are going to hate based simply because of a small part of who you are that has nothing to do with who you really are as a person and that's not right.

@sissy15 Indeed, my friend. The good thing is, people are changing the wrongdoing of racism. However, not all people wanted to change with this concern. Thus, we can just ignore them.

@Shavkat All we can do is do our best to be decent people and as you said ignore the rest. Hopefully, one day this will be a better world but so far it's not looking like it.

I hate it too. We are very unfortunate in South Africa because there is a huge anti white group that wants to kill white people here. We have no control over it and they use apartheid as an excuse to go forward with this. Apartheid ended 30 years ago. Most of us never even understood what it meant because we were just small children then. Our parents were against it as well so being targeted like this is really scary. This is not okay no matter what color you are or where you come from.

Unfortunately, wherever you are of the minority there will be bigotry toward you at least that's usually the case. People say there's no such thing as bigotry towards white people but that's not true. It's sad you have to go through that. It's scary how mean and cruel people can be all because of the color of your skin or what your religion is etc. I can't stand the fact that this is what it has come down to. Racism and bigotry are not ok. We have made a lot of strides in my hometown to make it more inclusive. When I was in high school they banned two gay people from going together and kids protested. A gay teacher never would have been allowed to teach back then and last year my son had a gay teacher who was also biracial I believe and she is one of two of the best teachers he has ever had. We have made huge strides here and things like what happened here just a few days ago really set us back and I hate that.

Yep, everyone is overly sensitive and gets offended too easily these days. Good post. This has become a very sad world when it comes to humanity.

Thank you, and I know it's sad that you have to watch everything you say. There are things I think people can't possibly find offensive but someone always finds a way.

Discrimination is really a problem that can't be eradicated like since ancient times. People are so dumb to hate someone because of something that doesn't even hurt them. Just by thinking that he/she is a person that's more than enough reason to show respect and equality.
