Panama or Belize

I want to visit a tropical destination. We live in South Africa thus we have restrictions on our passports for travel to most of the world. We have about 90 countries we can visit without applying for visas.
Panama and Belize is on our list. Who have been there?
I am mostly concerned about the weather. I don't like too humid. But like heat.
Is it safe to swim there in the ocean. I need that typical tropical feel.

I have not been to either,but John McCain was born in panama.So that could be of historical interest for you.

That sounds like a lot of choices actually.I mean, how many countries are in the world?Maybe 200?
