After we got the car out of the shop yesterday, I ran a few errands and then we had a nice lunch. Then I went to the Co-op to get some baby chicks. They were out of pullets (hens) so I next went to Tractor Supply. Same thing..out of pullets. So I ended up in my home town at the local Co-op that is more expensive than the other two choices. But...they had pullets. She said that is all they had, was pullets. I found this a little "iffy" but went ahead and got 8. A plus was that these were not one day old chicks, they were several days old so a much better survival rate.
Aren't they cute? Who else has chickens? I love my girls and my fresh eggs!

They are cute. I have eggs in the incubator now that should be hatched out by Tuesday.

Awesome! I'm tempted but I know my hubby would have a heart attack. He has survived parrot breeding and mini dachshund breeding before but wanted me to chill on raising animals...wanted no more pets when we moved to MS. It didn't quite work out that way.
What breeds do you have?

@wolfgirl569 Awesome! I have Rhode Island Reds mainly but have bought a variety of new hens this year. Also a few other breeds that I got from a friend last year who just wanted to get rid of them.

@kareng Chickens are cemani, spitzhauben and jersey giants. I have my first round of muscovy duck eggs going in tomorrow. I also have a few guinea fowl. That with horses, dogs, cats and goats.

No chickens here. You should have plenty of eggs.

@kareng Wow! That's expensive! Plus you can't get your eggs any fresher.
