The Dignity of the Human Person

The fifth Sunday of Lent tells us of the Gospel about our Lord set into a trap.
For a background, the Bible tells us that our Lord conducted His ministry in Galilee. Why? Because in Jerusalem, He is hot pursuit.
However, it is tradition that our Lord followed, the Passover, the Pentecost, and the Feast of Tabernacles, thus He goes back to Jerusalem, stays in the Mount of Olives and goes to the Temple the following day
So it was on such a day when the Scribes and the Pharisees planned their entrapment, for they were raging to catch Him wrong. They brought a woman caught in adultery and asked if she should be stoned. It is a "damn if you do, damn if you don't situation." If you do, you violate your message of peace, if you don't you violate the law of Moses.
So our Lord wrote on the sand "Whoever has no sin, be the first to cast the stone." None did. And according to scholars and researchers, our Lord continued writing actually the sins of those who were there. Ha ha ha.
When everyone has left, our Lord turned to the woman and said that neither He would cast a stone. Go and sin no more.
That is the dignity of the human person who was made in the image and likeness of God. We are not suppose to judge others at once. Perhaps it is us who has more sins, Like for example, it takes two to commit adultery. Where is the other? Why only the woman?
Okay, fellow sinners, our Lord has not cast judgment on us yet. Perhaps we can queue to the reconciliation booth and make amends.

That's a good Lent story. We could all use a little making amends.

Yes, we need the MEA CULPA.
In the Philippines, the parish church, on one evening, holds a confessional for the people. Tonight at seven pm, many priests would sit at makeshift confessional boxes and listen to the penitents unburden their hearts of their misgivings.
I believe I must stand in line, too.

That is right. We must go to the Confessional. Tonight at 7, several priests will sit at makeshift confessionals in our church, fo listen to our sins. It has become tradition that the week before Palm Sunday, atonement comes first before all the rituals and the reenactment of the Passion of our Lord.
So, you know where I will be tonight.
