Where there's burning there's fire....or something like that. At any rate, along with favorite songs with "burn" in the title I'm also counting down "fire" songs. If you're waiting for Springsteen....keep waiting. Here's today's "fire" song. #9: This Wheel's on Fire - The Band And let me start with a shout-out to the Siouxie & the Banshees cover! From their debut album, The Band, formerly the Hawks, stepped out from their stint as Bob Dylan's backing band and into their own. In a big, big way. The "Americana" genre owes much of its success (and very existence) to the way The Band mixed country, rock, and blues. They weren't that far away from Dylan on this album, though: Dylan wrote or co-wrote three songs on the album, including this one. Rick Danko sang lead on a song that's become a classic in Americana music. This Wheel's On Fire Written by Rick Danko and Bob Dylan Recorded by The Band From Music From Big Pink, 1968 If your memory serves you well:
Track 10 from their album "Music from Big Pink" (1968). Composed by Rick Danko and Bob Dylan

Love The Band, with or without Dylan. I was supposed to see them one time, but they didn't show up. Some kind of hang up at a border somewhere I think. At least that was the rumor.
