Of the three children of the country's first dictator, she was youngest who never went into politics. Back in the day, she befriended my pianist of a sister at the UP College of Music. She was enrolled as a Conducting major. On college activities, she would not eat, because the food might be poisoned, but when she saw my sister eating every food, she did taste some. Her two siblings are sowing lies every day, including claims of degrees at the country's premier university and Ivy League. But Irene was nowhere in sight. Nor the news. Till now, when she made an appearance at an Ateneo launching of a creative hub. The Jesuits has a strong commitment to seek justice for the victims, and the mere presence of the youngest child is already an insult to those who suffered and died in the grim days of Martial Law. I agree. After all, this youngest child, although distanced from politics, never apologized and never did anything to give justice to the victims. Irene, silence means compliance. You are as guilty.

I went to the same high school as the son but he was a year ahead of me before he left for London and those food tasters things are all true Now about Irene, for one thing she never ventured into politics, it's hard to judge her silence to the point that I don't know what to say also her mysterious coming out so suddenly is something to ponder about. How would she go about helping victims? Apology and admission on what her mother and father has done? Yes I agree. Her only crime could be she was a daughter and benefitted from what they stole. Up to now I'm still blank

@eileenleyva that reminds me of the story of Marie Antoinette of France during the French revolution. The Princess could not understand why the people wanted to dethrone the monarchy. She was quoted as saying, " If the people no longer had bread to eat, pls give them cake!" She was gallotined after saying those words. Marie Antoinette was not in touch with the sufferings of her people.

Irene is the least political of the three siblings. Being a Marcos is a burden that she has to carry all the rest of her life.

I'd like to be kind but I cannot compromise the truth. Many were killed in the grim days of Martial Law, including a young genius by the name of Emmanuel Lacaba, shot in the mouth in the fields of Davao. Irene makes it appear she is oblivious to the tyranny of her father and the revisionism her mother and siblings are still doing, She is accountable. There is such a thing as sin of omission.

@Junbals No. That is not true. She is not a child. Look, she has grey hair, too, and too old to play innocent.
The executive director of Ateneo de Manila University’s center for creativity and arts has resigned from her post “in the spirit of transparency” after she was criticized for inviting Irene Marcos-Araneta to a campus event last week.
