Day 5
Galatians 5
Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
2 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.
3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.
4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision avails anything, nor uncircumcision; but faith which works by love.
7 Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?
8 This persuasion comes not of him who calls you.
9 A little leaven leavens the whole lump.
10 I have confidence in you through the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded: but he who troubles you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be.
11 And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? Then is the offence of the cross ceased.
12 I would they were even cut off which trouble you.
13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.
16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 Envying, murders, drunkenness, reveling, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
From the beginning, there has been good and evil. You teach your children right from wrong. Yet evil persists in the world and wars against righteousness. Laws were made to govern man and bring justice through the law.
Paul told the church of Galatia the law brought bondage because the law brought death. The Law of Moses hinged on obedience to God and if anyone didn’t obey the law, death was the ultimate outcome. Paul told the church, Jesus came to fulfill the law and give them life, freeing them from the enslavement of the law.
As Christians, you face the decision to live according to the law which no man can fully obey, or live according to the freedom found in the cross of Jesus Christ.
Jesus was put to death, the punishment for disobedience to the law, for your sin, so that you can have life.
Paul showed what the outcome of an immoral life looked like, what it produced in people who tried to live according to the law but failed. He also showed what living by faith produced when you put your life in God’s hands accepting Jesus as Savior and Lord.
When you turn your life over to Jesus Christ, you are no longer under the law, because Jesus waged war with the law of sin on the cross and brought about the law of grace and forgiveness, freeing you from the bondage of sin.
Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. (KJV)
If you live in the Spirit, walk in the Spirit and sin will have no occasion against you.
Let’s pray: Father, help me live in the Spirit so the law of sin will have no hold over me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Paul had concerns for the people he was writing to. I get a little tangled with the language over the medical procedure and then loose sight of the message. The ending however brings out the real intentions.
Walk in the right footsteps and not get trapped by our feelings we might get in a competition.
Now I want to read further. Interested in what you wrote after the quote. As always thanks for sharing the bible study.

@just4him I really do appreciate those that take the bible in hand for the purpose of sharing and helping others in their life. Of course I am interested in the bible. The bible has been described as "God's word" so how I could I not be. May your day be blessed as well.
I am not in agreement with some of the words used but they exist in within the scriptures so all we can do is sigh and know that language has changed over time. The good meanings are not lost so all is good.

@mynameiskate King James is hard to read sometimes. I take the archaic words and make them readable without changing any of the meaning.
