Watching the 2016 movie Risen yesterday from DVD, I felt I could relate to the journey of faith of Flavius, the Roman centurion. Flavius initially was a nonbeliever who wanted to disprove the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. He followed the disciples wherever they would congregate, based on leads and tips from spies. In the upper room he found his disciples gathering together, among them was the Nazarean he was looking for. How was that possible? Flavius remembered Jesus' face at Golgotha when the former ordered that the latter's side be pierced with a lance and blood and water flowed out from his side. This Nazarean died on the cross - a fact he could personally attest to. He could be seen sliding gradually on the wall in disbelief. He could not believe what he saw. The movie was faithful to the Jewish tradition that there is no separation between body and soul. For the Jews, resurrection is not an event which relates only to the spirit. The movie shows that Jesus' glorified body was in the flesh. I remember my professor used to say to the effect that in the resurrection of the last day, we all return to our bodies, now glorified with all its marks, wounds, and all. In a nutshell, in resurrection day the whole body resurrects. That means we Christians need to take care of our bodies, stay healthy because it has implications in the here after. What about you ? Have you taken care of your body? Photo credit: pixabay c

Still it would be good to consult your doctor and religiously take maintenance medicine.
