This 2019 Lenten Season, I only have an ample amount of money kept because I really wanted my sons to feel how it is to do penance, sacrifice without using a lot of gadgets, internet and outing. We stayed only at home, then go to church, attend procession for Wednesday and Friday and attend Holy Mass early Sunday morning. No beaches or pools, simple foods prepared mostly vegetables and fish. I also tell them stories regarding Lenten Season, what is the importance of commemorating it, and how it is commemorated. I realized that I may not have a lot of material wealth but I am very rich in love and I have a complete family with no defects and healthy. I am blessed and I am very thankful.

I remember a time when Lent was characterize by a solemn and sincere contemplation of Christ's suffering. Now you hardly see any "Pabasa" chanting the passion during the Lenten season. It's more about going to the beaches and Malls.

here in our province there is still "Pabasa" but I miss the play or portrayal. Today, the new generation sees it as time for outing. They don't give importance anymore why we have this Lenten Season and why are we commemorating this. This is one of the traditions and belief that is slowly fading. Very sad.
