The "Don't Donate to Notre Dame Rebuild" Band Wagon...

Social Media is all abuzz in backlash over huge donations to rebuild the Notre Dame Cathedral. Every one of them seems to come with a suggestion on what cause people "should" be donating to instead.
I think that is blatantly self serving and pretty pathetic. Why is "your" cause any more deserving of donations than someone elses? Should New York City have built a home for dolphins who survived tuna nets instead of the 9/11 Memorial?
It is the epitome o "Never Let a Crisis Go To Waste" rhetoric. It's nothing more than people using the tragic Notre Dame fire as a fund raiser for their own pet causes.

It doesn't matter who donates to what cause. There will always be naysayers.
Yes there is a great deal of things that need support, but rather than criticizing those who donate to any cause...stand up...be counted. Do something yourself to change the world. You won't have time to worry about what a billionaire is doing.

Exacty! They should quit using someone else's tragedies to raise money for their causes.

I feel that Notre Dame belongs to everyone in this world just saying but with feeling a good one.
I am not into who is right or wrong just for it to be rebuilt.

i'm kind torn on that.
while i agree that its a historical building and should be saved,i also agree with the people saying it's too bad people don't donate like that for homeless people.too bad the billionaires haven't done both..

Alfredo, Notre-Dame and all the art inside is owned by the state, not by the Church, and in France, since the separation of the State and the Church in 1905, the Catholic Church is poor. A priest has an average wage of 950 Euros/month, while the minimum wage of an employee in France is 1200 Euros.

Exactly! Let the cause and donating to it stand on it's own merits.
